After i updated to 1.60 some of my kits and samples where ruined, my bass kits are all static and have a ringing sound to them. I called akai and the guy didn't know what to do, so i went back to 1.51 and everything is fine. Does anybody else have this problem? let me know cuase i really want to use 1.60. Thanx-

Was it 1.51 or one of the betas?

Hmmmm...

The gain structure changed in the new release...could it be that your samples are now "too loud" ??

What happens if you reduce the gain?

Also, how many memory expansions do you have? Are they compatible memory chips?

V1.60 changes the order in which samples are loaded in the memory.
If the upper part of the memory is not working properly, with V1.51, you would only notice it when the memory was full. If you didn't fill up the memory, you would not notice it.
With V1.60, the MPC4000 starts loading the samples in the upper part and you will notice the problem immediatly.

Carefully remove the memory expansions and try again V1.60 and see if it fixes the problem. If it does, it means that yourmemory expansions are not compatible/not working correctly.

P.S.: the only change in the gain structure in V1.60 is in the FX section

It's not the gain, and it was not the beta. It was 1.51 and i swicthed back to it after finding out my kit was ****. When i swichted back it works fine. I talked to tech support and they told my to try and reload the kit again. I think that it's only one kit that's ****, my bass kit. I believe everything else is fine. If you got any other suggestions let me know. Peace-

If it is only one kit (and not the memory), it would be useful if you could send it to [email protected], if it is not too big (you can try zipping the data in a folder first). Or if it happens with any keygroup of the Program, you can send the Program data with only one of the samples.

Did you check the memory as I suggested?

if i take out the memory will my kits be gone? I got 512, i asked tech support bout that and they said it doesn't matter because it loads memory as one whole unit. But those guys really don't know shit. Thanks Sean-

Do not load a sample, try Audition (F4) on the Load menu and see if they sound the way they are suppose to.
