Help finding an audio interface with atleast 8 ins!

Hey folks!

So Im planning on buying a new PC (laptop or small table-pc), and with that, I decided to upgrade my
2kclassic with the 8 out, and ofcourse then I need a soundcard with 8 ins.

MPC is going to be my drum/sample library that I want to integrate with my PC. Should I go with firewire or usb AI? You can suggest some models aswell Thank you

I might be wrong, but I think Firewire is going to be way faster than USB, they have USB 3.0 coming out which is either suppose to rival or out do firewire but alot of technology wont be using USB 3.0 for a while to come.

I got an Edirol FA-101 I got 10 ins and 10 outs and its fire wire.

im certain usb 2.0 is faster than firewire 400.. but when it comes to music many people still recommend firewire 400 over usb 2.0.. now firewire 800 is a different story.. i would go with firewire or pci over usb for multitracking.. usb 1.1 is incapable of multitracking..

i was considering a firewire mixer but went ahead and purchased an m-audio delta 1010.. 10x10 with pci card

i didnt even take into consideration rather he was talking about 400 or 800. i have a laptop for the moment and only ports I have is USB and Firewire (Minus the headphones, video out and network ports) but I kinda wish I had enough to build a tower up from the ground so I could get midi cards and the whole sha-bang

usb 1.1 is also frikkin ancient! usb 2.0 is nearly ten years old, if you are stuck with usb 1.1 you need a new computer anyway

i bought a usb interface which was fairly new.. it was usb 1.1.. i didnt pay attention or know about its in-capabilities to multi-track, i was just interested in the 6 ins.. my interface is 1.1 my comp is 2.0..

yikes! I take it back then - didn't realise you needed to look out for that in this day and age!

If you got a Desktop, definetly get the Delta 1010, for $200 bucks, you get your specified ins, and 0 latency midi inputs.

The best thing about having one of these is you can use virtually any daw out there. PT, Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, Ableton, etc.
