Micorkorg and mpc500 midi

I'm trying to record the microkorg as midi and the mpc record and playback the data. I have both audio outputs hooked up to a mixer. I have read both manuals and what they say to do doesn't work. All I can get is the microkorg playing the samples on the mpc. I seen a brief video on youtube describing the midi handshake and the mpc "playing" the microkorg. It was a mpc1000 and a microkorg. I adjusted about every setting on both devices and always the same response. Microkorg playing the samples! Both midi cables are hooked up as in to out and out to in. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry but i didn't have the track set as midi. But one other question is how can I totally erase that midi track if I don't like it. So far it still plays back the original midi track even when I erase the track. The only way that I can get it to stop is to turn off the midi in the track parameters. Probably another stupid question but any help would still be appreciated.

try erasing the step also

Undo/Erase button, cycle over to Erase.

Hey atari_twins, could you possibly help me out, as I am having the same problem as you originally had ? I would be much obliged if you could give me a step-by-step procedure of what you did. Hopefully, I will see where I am going wrong. Thanks in advance !

pdf manual, page 16, you have two ways to do it (search in the manual the following terms)

- Delete In Real Time
- Deleting From The Erase Screen

You can delete a pad, certain notes, a whole track, etc.
