how can i lay a sample across the keyboard??

if i want to take a sample and lay it across the keys in different octaves so it can be played by my controller how do i do that? what i was doing is taking a sample use 16 levels and assign tune only problem is my keyboard will only play the the original samples,not the specific one i decided to assign? the sample i picked is tuned across the pads but not able to be played by my controller

16 levels is an internal function that has no relationship to external or MIDI control.
The change in pitch is available to the MPC pads only.

The 4k has more than one type of program, you are using the wrong one to have the sound spread across the keys.

use keygroup program instead of drum program.
