Maschine vs MPC 4000

It is more like the MPD24 than an MPC but with better pads and windows to boot. It is more sensitive than MPD24 yes no doubt about that. Is it more sensitive than a mpc 4k to each his own. I had to adjust the latency to 246 to start at first but when I get to a crowded project it will be a different story within a DAW.

My unit shipped with a sign on the box saying "New Version...50 new features and 1GB of new samples." Opening up the unit, it did ship with the OS 1.5 manual...but the actual DVD only included OS 1.0.X. I had to download the updates and samples.

My hardware is slightly different than the manual. The manual has additional labeling such as step, count in, replace..which are not identified on the actual hardware. Not a big deal though...

Let me guess play is named count in, and replace is where erase was or something? Yeah you got to download the version 1.5 along with the samples after registering. Then the included functions show up via the windows.

I wouldn't call myself a monster or expert (though I'm learning more and more about Maschine incl the features I don't use myself by trying to help others), but thanks for the compliment. :)

Knobs. Some of my knobs are stiff. At first turn they are slightly stiff, then loosen up a bit, then turn slightly stiff again.

I gotcha on the labeling. I have the 1.1 version just metronome over play. But I read the manual for others. As far as the knobs mine are straight no problems it may depend on your particular unit batch. I had problems with my MPD24 at first sent it back and got a new one and all was straight. Plastic is plastic and everything comes from China so go figure. Good luck though.

I have been busy working on projects and rearranging my studio. So I revisited this thread with a revision on both gears. I have incorporated both into my setup by sequencing maschine with my 4k. The step programming and editing on the 4k is second to none. Together with the library of maschine and its added effects and enhancements it`s a done deal. MPC sequencer and maschines library and tools. I`m a content owner of both. 8)

A combination of both that I got from watching others like Kev Brown and the Brit cats like louis den camp. See I laid down a basic pattern live and sometimes quantized. And add to it with the step editor or shift the notes to get the placement like I want for a nice groove. With step editor I know exactly where the hits lands, velocity, and duration, and especially the Timing. Overlooked for some time but those cats are fast at it and can easily get the off beat sound cuz it is all numbers. From the 60 to 3000 old school style.

A nice combo indeed. Fu*k it went back to the manual got the sync and midi settings right this time and it was a charm to work with mpc as master and maschine as module. Best of both. 8)

Cool i`m using maschine within my logic DAW and it is all good. How did you get the library off the net? I been layering groups via the midi tracks on the 4k and using the sp1200 and 60 settings. It ok and it works for what I have.
