Firewire Sound card and computer problem HELP!!!

I have a Hercules 16/12 interface and everytime I turn it off it shuts down my computer. The whole turning it off while the computer is on is part of the software and driver installation process however the computer its self is not suppose shutdown and restart. I have installed the interface on two other computers with the same results with both the older and the latest drivers. Any idea of what I might need to fix on the breakout box its self to correct this issue?

dump the Herc, and get some name brand stuff.

you won't be able to fix it, it sounds like a power/ software issue.


you could try hooking it up to a powered FW hub, but that is kind of an expensive solution.

Dump the firewire. I always had similar problems using FW interfaces. The format is a dead end.

Serious. If my FW interface, with lots of inputs like yours, doesn't get enough power I get a BSOD.

I've been using FX interface for the last 6 years with no problems.

they usually work better than USB for me.

the only way to use this thing is to use the powere adapter
