Just got a mpc 4000 for a friend of mine and it was all working fine.
I hooked him up some sounds made about 5 beats to show him how to work it (he was a mpc 1000 user)
then i went home and he continued making a few beats.
next day he loaded up a track and went into the track mute page and it froze and he couldn't unmute the muted tracks.
now the the pads don't work, but the external keyboard does.......
the os is 1.71
any ideas?
cheers

Hi.sounds like your pads to main board lead might have been jerked out in the move.youl have to open her up via the many screws and you will see inside a flat white cable that runs from the pads to the board where it joins this should be fitted(pushed in) to the plastic thingy!!!have a good look.make sure all cables are secure.good luck!!!!!

Have you checked your pad routing by hitting the "midi" button, and under routing, checking the "drum pad destination" box?

ok I tried the midi routing thats all as it should be.
I opened it up and checked the connection and re plugged it no joy.
I reinstalled the OS no joy.
Check the ram no joy.

So I hooked up a external controller for him to keep making beats (that works fine).

What do you guys reckon, new pad sensors?
any other ideas?
thanks for all your help so far!
cheers

What are you loading for sounds?
I have had stuff from JJ OS2 and OS XL cause this problem in a 4k and in the 500.

Did you go back and load the sounds that you originally gave him or is he by some chance using something from his 1k?
