Mpc 60 light

how hard is it to replace the back light on the mpc 60 and how do you get to it? I dont have to money to send it off to Forat to get it fixed.

Here's a couple of pictures, although the article itself is in japanese. I'll be changing my own backlight el-foil at some point this week, perhaps I'll put together a similair guide..

F*k, something went wrong. I successfully installed a new el-foil and backlight itself works like new, but now more than half of my screen text is corrupted. Can't see anything. I've checked all plugs from the display assembly to the main board... anybody having had a similair problem?

Solved.. although I don't know technically what caused the problem. Only thing I did was to re-assemble the aluminium "cage" that sits around the display. I made sure the small hooks were turned as sharply as they were before I disassembled the thing, and also made sure two of them hooks were touching the gold-plated surface of the card itself.

I have no idea what caused it to work again, but I don't really care. I have a working backlight now.

Why did you have to disassemble the LCD panel? The backlight should have slid into the space behind the cage and the PCB board without having to take anything apart.

I know, but I didn't realise that until it was too late and I already had disassembled it..

i did the same mistake...
i need to pay more attention next time i do any DIY on my MP...

Yeah, same here.. it's not that smart to feel over-confident or arrogant when working with such old gear hopefully I won't have to change mine again until one or two years though.
