thats some useful stuff, anyone willing to share any similar tips, like how can I get some dilla/pete rock (volume 2 bass) out of common records?

filter down piano and it makes ill bass tones.
sample with effects and then get rid of the original sample
only keep the effect, filter that down.
slow down something and filter it.
sample someone talking, pitch it down some, adjust the adsr
filter it down with a lil reverb.
and the number one trick i use
GET AN OLD RECORD PLAYER
PUT ON A RECORD WITH SYNTH NOISES OR IN YOUR FACE BASS
TURN OFF THE REORDPLAYER AND SAMPLE THE RECORD SLOWING DOWN.
SAMPLE DIFFERENT SPEEDS.
CHOP UP AND FILTER AND YOU HAVE SOME NICE SOUNDS.

Yea and shifting a Bass line up an octave and Time Strecthing it to the original BPM makes for an ill doubled sound... Sounds like a guitar on top of the bass...

I used this the other day for this funky bassline that was just a straight up old school style bassloop with a tight break underneath, but it was missing something...

Anyways... I used this technique and every fourth bar I used the very end of loop and made it into a guiatr line using this technique... Doubled it up and broke the monotony, while still basically keepin the riff the same... It just added some extra flavor that the track needed...

I made an interesting bassline last night.

As you may remember, my needles broke.... anyway, while i'm waiting to get a replacement stylus, i'm using these old stanton 505's.

So i turn on my turntable to sample some sh*t, and i accidentaly had the gain up way to high, and i got this NASTY feedback. But it slumped h3lla hard, so i sampled it!

Mapped out accross the keys and layed a SICK slappin' bassline with it (after some fine tuning, of course)

I've also made kicks from tapping on my turntable and sampling that, as well as recording a basketball dribbling in my garage with a mic, and compressing the fxck out of it.

Made snares by slapping my exgirlfriends ass... that was the hottest sh*t ever.

Yah that has happened to me before except I had my headphones plugged into the MPC, so that loud feedback went straight into my skull...

#1 Build a simple bass multisample with a plain sine wav.

interpolate some basslines. find funk or something, then figure out the notes, then play it. put the filtered overtop it. ALot of times you dont need to play every note.

ive also sped up a medium toned guitar, then sampled it, then detuned it and layered.....or just detuned a fast guitar riff.

layer vocals, or orchestral samples over your multisample.

Can someone explain to me how to keep just the effect used on a sample?

easy way w/ the 2xl and effects board is turn up the effects send and turn the main outs down just for the particular channel you want in the mixer screen. but thats the cheese way.

look for stuff by andy summers, brian eno and robert fripp .... esp early 80's stuff
always crazy dilla esq bass on there if you can get through all the psychadelic wierds
