Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello,

I recently bought a used MPC 2000 XL.
Firstly I thought I didn't know how to use NV slider, but when I realized that I'm doing everything correctly, I understand that something bad is going on with it. Thing is, that when I assign any note to it, MPC works like slider is always in the bottom position (notes have always FX set in bottom range), and nothing changes when slider is being moved.
Any solutions? Can it be soldering problem? Or maybe I have to order new replacement?

Thank you.

If the NV is not responding, it's most likely bad and will need to be replaced.

You can get to the diagnostic screen of the MPC 2000XL by hitting SHIFT + F5 then SHIFT + F1.

In the diagnostics in the Pad Test screen it will show you the slider data -- if you move the slider and you don't see the values change, then the slider will need to be replaced.

Good luck!

Yea my buddy's MP does the same thing and it turned out to be a bad slider. They're a bit tricky to replace but not too awful.

Thank you for your answers. But I can't open the diagnostics screen, MPC doesn't react to hitting Shift + F5... Guess I have to buy replacement and install it.

Save your money.
Most likely the solder connections from the NVS to the circuit board are cracked from use/abuse. I've fixed 3 supposedly bad NVS on my friend's MPC's. I just reheated the solder joints with a soldering iron and it worked great after that.

You have more problems than just the slider then my friend if you can't access the diagnostics screen.

Sorry for re-hashing an old thread, but I didn't want to make a new one with the same topic...my slider also doesn't appear to be working although the person who I bought my MPC 2000xl from said that it does in fact work. I tried going to the diagnostics screen too by pressing shift +f5 and shift + f1 but nothing happens when I press that... :(
