Supposedly the Route 66 floppy drives won't work with the 3.10 OS. I've heard the SP12000 floppies will, but that is unconfirmed. If your floppy is original to the 60, it will work fine, but you should get the scsi anyway, I know I know, it's 300, but still, you won't regret it.

yea...

my floppy quit working when i installed the 3.1 os, and everyone i talked to assumed that my drive was from route66... im not sure where the drive came from since i bought it used... ive yet to replace the floppy since i got the SCSI, but sooner or later imma get the floppy replaced and the backlight at the same time :)

truedat elm...

it was only assumed by VST that it was a route66 drive when i talked to them on the phone... noone actually looked at the machine... thats the very first thing they told me... RLINN DESIGNS were no help either, they just refered me to VST... i just assumed it was a problem with the drive not being compatible with 3.1 also since thats when it quit working... its surprising that i havent really found a definite answer on here... it always seems like speculation when someone comments on this topic... im going to see if i still have the email of the dude i bought my 60 off of and see if he knows if its a route66 drive or not...

"I've heard the SP12000 floppies will, but that is unconfirmed."

It will always be unconfirmed. SP1200 uses a Commodore drive which will not work in an MPC. Likely contributed to the machine's early retirement.

Nah the replacement drive from Route 66. The SP-12 used the commadore 5 1/4" drive, was the SP-1200's 3.5" drive commodore as well?
Whatever it is, the SP-1200 replacement drive reportedly worked on a 60. Not sure if it had the 3.10 OS, so it might not help, but it is cheaper than the drive they have for the 60.

Alejandra found a replacement floppy at a computer show's junk pile that worked fine, I think he friend has the specs of the replacement drive she got.

i think that everything regarding this subject will continue to go "unconfirmed" its been this way for a while and i dont see much changing... ill let you know if i come across something, but it looks like imma have to break down and spend the cash at Forat for a new drive...
i wrote the dude i bought the 60 off of and he never replied when i wrote him and asked if he knew where the drive came from.
