Prices got chopped in half worldwide last week.

Ummm wonder why that is???

All original Akai MPCs piss all over the Roland. And don't come at me with all that
"Uh, you can plug a monitor into the MV."
Ever heard of Aksys?!?!

Also if i just wanted to work on a monitor i'd sync my MPC with my DAW and use Aksys alongside.

slow down, that dude's right about doing your research,i like you had my heart dead set on the mpc 5000,i was skeptical about buying one after i read what Just Blaze had to say about it,he said dont buy one until they fix the bugz and bring out an update of the operating system,so i bought one with the update in good faith....and you know what, the thing still has bugz,it's heartbreakin on many levels,i wont even go into detail as even with the update it has so many floors, the trim page really upsets me,it's like they tried to get so fancy with extras they started to forget the fundamentals,i will just say i allready had an mpc 1000 with a jjos operating system and that he 5000 update can't test the jjos's,but if you've never had an mpc in the first place, what you dont know cant hurt you.

Anyone know how to go about getting a petition together to get a an operating system update that really addresses all the bugz and issues?

I'm prepared to get my hard broken
Tommorow I'm goin to get one. I was going to buy everything at once(HD, DVD drive and memory), but I wanna buy my mother a LCD tv in that price range. She has the same 15 year old tv wich has a greenish with red picture now.

Untill I upgrade I'm just going to learn this beast inside out with the manual next to it and MPC-Forums standby :)

lol

don t have a problem with the mpc too...
there is not a perfect instrument or grooebox out..it s like that and users allways want more features but also cheaper!!!
thanks to just blaze and his bashing i m got my mpc 5000 4 cheap...
but there are many just just hating instrument/groovebox without touching it. same with the prophet 8 many just step thru some presets and say it sounds bad. but the presets are weak and very stereotyp but you have to take a look on the fantastic modulation options or tweak just some patches....
same goes for pushing gear you never know if there some product specialist pushing it...
i bet if say would re-re-release the emu sp1200 people gonna start crying they want 1 gig ram, a huge touchscreen, they don t feel the pads and on and on...

what i wanna say is don t believe everything you read there is a lot of talking....
test it on your own if it works 4 you...

coming back to the tread...
but the mv8800 is also a bad ass beast with a different workflow.i didn t like the sound of the filters but that s just my 2 cents...
test them both and look which one fits better in your workflow don t look too much @ technical facts..
i would wait a lil till summer namm could be possible that the huge price drop means that they gonna replace the mv...

I have the 5000 for a few days now.

I wish I've listened to the people NOT! recommending the 5000. This thing is useless, it's buggy and I can do everything quicker in my DAW. I wish I bought the Maschine. This is much cheaper. I'm so depressed I spent so much money on a wortless machine like the 5000. I just wanna DIE!..............................................................................................................................................................................................PSYCH!

I love the 5000. I should have done this much earlier. 'The workflow is very logic. I don't find the 5000 hard to learn, but I know you can get deep. It's amazing.

The only gripe I have is the noise from the fan and something else that makes a noise(HD?). All I need is the DVD drive and I'm set. I've tried to replace the HD with a Caviar Blue, but it isn't working. I've read a post (too late) from a dude who had a problem with the same type drive. Only he didn't mention what he's done to fix it.

I do wish for a improved OS o max out the potential of this beast.

btw They're out of stock like most places. MPC 5000 may be dead, but when the perfect OS comes out selling these beasts will be lucrative.

Er, try avoid paying 1200 Euros for it for a start !!

You can pick these up second hand for as little as £800 - shop around.
