compact flash drive installation

hello all, first post here. i recently attempted to install a compact flash drive (purchased from mpstuff.com - http://www.mpcstuff.com/2000xl-mcd-mult ... drive.html) on my 2000xl and am experiencing some problems. i have updated the OS to 1.2 prior to any installation attempt and am using 1GB sandisk CF cards. immediately after installing the drive as per the included instructions i turned on the unit with a card in the reader and the mpc will not recognize the drive. it is getting power, as the green light is on, but regardless of whether the disk has any .wav files on it the mpc can't seem to find the drive. am i missing a step? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert on the XL but I'm pretty sure you need OS 1.14 not 1.2. Sounds counter-intuitive, but Im fairly positive I've heard you need 1.14 to make card readers work for the 2kxl. You can order the OS from mpcstuff.com and I think you might be able to get it from scsiforsamplers.com too. Lemmie know if this helps.

I have the same problem...
i bought compact flash reader,
LED constantly lit, in mpc I do not see atapi options........

It is deffinatly the 1.2 for the new devices.

Why dont you open up the MP again and check that it is properly plugged in.
Not the power cable but the data cable

see if this works out.

Also you could e-mail at the support of mpc-stuff

OS 1.2 is for IDE card readers... recheck the data cable.

Rather, the cable is good... take a look yet another/
my cf is sandisk ultra 1gb, prabobly cf is good.
