Record multiple pads to separate tracks in one go: possible?

Hi there, first posting, thanks for your help.

I understand that recording on a track stores all the pads which I play simultaneously in this very same track. Of course we want to have kick, snare, hats on different tracks for convenient editing, effects and output control. But recording each pad AFTER one another is quite un-intuitive and time consuming.

As such, is there a way with AKAI OS or one of the JJ-OSes to assign each pad to its own track (lets say 1-16), and record them all at the same time? After recording one bar and playing kick+sn+hh in one go, pad 1 should be on track 1, pad 2 on track 2, and so on... Is this possible? thanks a lot for your answers.

i think you can assign a pad to an output
but its been so long since i worked with a 1000

not ideal and even more time consuming, but you could duplicate the track and then remove all the kick+hh from one, remove kick+sn from another, remove sn+hh from another...

allright then, thanks, as I am new to the mpc1000 I thought I might have overlooked something obvious...
funny thing is I produced with ableton live for some time now and wanted to revert to some "real hardware" again... now I am missing the convenience of software quite early in the process..--))) still will fight to get some grooves going on the mpc, though...

It can be done but if you have a (2) input interface like I do you will be able to record (2) at a time. I used to do it that way, I just do individually now because I had latency issues. So I stopped multi track recording at one time. A friend of mine has an M Audio with Pro Tools and he records (4) or (8) tracks at once, I forgot which one. I'm not at home right now, at work, so I can't look at the MPC and explain it clearly. I need to be there. When I get a moment I'll try to check back in. But it can be done depending on your hardware/software.
