Hello Everyone,

I've been on the site for a few months reading some of the post. I'm just starting out with trying to make my own music. ( I'm board with program's like beatmaker ) I've been around music my whole life and have been lucky enough to have met people that have produce music here in the bay area. ( A well know rappers family lives down the street from my parents, so I've met a few and seen many rapper's drive by the house back in the day.)

I'm saving up to buy a mpc 5000 at the moment. I have very little equipment at this time. But I do have about 500 records to sample and 2 hand me down turntables.I'll be in the market for a Asr 10 or an sp 1200 after I buy my Mpc.

Lastly I mostly plan to make sampled hiphop beats but I listen and collect records from all over the place. When I can get some of my ideas ou of my head and into the mpc, I'll post them up and see what you guys think.

I'm sorry I didn't know that posting similar post in different sections was a bad thing. I just figured I'd post in a general section and in the 5000 section ( I was just trying to just say hello to members.) Im buying a 5000 so I'm planing on posting there most of the time.

Sorry for the double post.

What's up Dan? Let us know when you get that joint, but please read the manual thoroughly before you try to use it without understanding the machine itself.

It pisses a lot of folks off (including myself) if you try to learn the machine through means of this forum. What I mean is...it's cool to share ideas, or if you're a little stuck on something every now & then or need little assistance, then a lot of folks don't mind helping.

But I don't need to explain what'll happen if you don't go about it like I'm about to mention, unless you want to see for yourself...just kidding.

So before you step up to the plate, you wanna practice your at bat techniques a lil bit. Now, before you jump on any mpc, you must understand most of the ins & outs so you can start pumping out those ideas. That includes knowing how to use it with other instruments & certain pieces of gear.

You'll get there.

^ yeah I will not make a real beat untill I read the book!!!
But I do play around with the 5000 at guitar center every week.
( I'm a salesman so I drive all over the bay.... If I have time I'll drop in and play with the mpc's ;) )

I know once I can sit down and read the book and figure out how to use everything I'll be ok. I just choped up an old Diana Ross record for fun on beatmaker yesterday...... It's limitations make me want a real mpc more and more.

Only post in the 5000 forum if your particular issue is SPECIFIC TO THAT MACHINE.

Everything else should be posted in the most appropriate sub-forum.
