Soft Synths w/ MPC

Anybody use there soft synths with their MPC? If you have a soundcard do you run it into the MPC? I use the M-Box.

I did a bit of that last weekend, I used the FXpansion Simple Virtual Host SVH on my laptop with a Edirol UA-20 MIDI interface. It works best with ASIO - actually, I think it needs ASIO - but that was great with the Echo Indigo io.

Output to the mixer - I have the MPC on mixer Tape In/Out sockets, so I can send a signal to the MPC if I want to. But I would only do that if I was sampling the soft synths, can't see me doing that too much, why use sample memory when I can play the soft synths live at mixdown?

I got a 4-track MPC sequence controlling 4 MIDI channels at once -> 4 VSTs: B4, Waldorf Wave, CesSynth 1, and (I think) Waldorf Attack. Funky, it was, yes.

SO far (just started that), I'm doing all the sequencing and control from the MPC, it's like I turned my laptop into a 16-part synth, sending the output audio to the mixer. I have no sequencer on my laptop at all right now, just SVH to "host" the VSTs. I have a few that don't actually need SVH (NI products mostly, they're great like that.)

I'm not sampling the soft synths, so I have no need to send the audio to the MPC. When it comes time to mix down, I'll send all the audio to the mixer: MPC, K5000S, soft synths, external FX, live stuff, kitchen sink, whatever. Then out the mixer back to the laptop, as a stereo track for mastering. The MPC can't mix all that junk together live, gotta use a mixer!
