How do you work with samples? (4000 related)

I was just curious as to what others methodologies are when working with samples..

I personally dont have a record player to rip samples from vinyl (for now) so I youtube dig, find something that I like - download the song and then throw it in melodyne to play around with the pitch and time stretching.. save whatever I have done to that sample from melodyne and open it in acid pro to chop up the samples that I want.. save each sample to a usb stick and then pop the usb stick into the usb port on the front of the 4000 and continue from there..

After that its pretty much playing with effects/filters to see what I think sounds good..

What about you guys? What is your process in handling samples?

I start from Vinyl or sometimes straight from cd's.
Chop it up in the MP or ASR.
Than I sequence the sample. (Most of the time or I'll start with the fx)
Mess around with it (Filtering FX etc) when needed
If something isnt feeling right and I know what the problem is I'll fix it on the computer. (Wavelab or Melodyne) and send it right back to the machine.

1. Take sound
2. Place in MPC
3. ?
4. Great Success

Sounds like n USB cable and Aksys program can save you a few steps.

Don't want to bother with the bull hassle of down grading and backing up files etc.

Ak.sys actually helps you streamline your workflow. It does away with the prehistoric way we're use to doing things.
