Just picked up a MPC 60 II off Craigslist and I'm just learning how to use it , but I love it.

The drums are dope! But i don't need to tell you guys that...

I know what you mean. I sent my MPC60II off for repairs. It should be back this week. I can't wait.

OS 2.12, no upgrades

I read several posts that said the 60 sequencer was "looser in a good way" especially with it's original software, so I wanted to check it out ( i assumed there wasn't a big difference in the sequencer between 2.02 and 2.12)

i may upgrade the ram but i have a s950 and mv8000, both maxed ram, so i should be ok with sample time

You'll be amped to have it back, i bet.

Did you send it to Forat or somewhere else? I need to get my S950 repaired ( monitor out knob crackles when you turn it)

maybe you could get the stuff to clean the pots out... That can be done at home. Check around youtube, there is most likely some tutorials for cleaning pots and knobs with the solutions. I personally have never done that but I hear it is easy to do... if in fact it is that type of scratchy-ness that happens due to dust etc.. and it isn't broken or something.

Yeah, it's kind of like that but it seems like the volume can't be turned up all the way, it's that dirty?

so , i should see if the caig lube fixes it

is it better to use the spray or the tube? i have a tube of it that came with my pro-x fade

i have to take off the front panel?

I got my MPC60II back yesterday. The Backlight looks Beautiful. Nice and Bright. I sent it to VST Service. They always do a great job.

I've been reading some of the older posts about chopping on the 60 and so far it looks like it aint gonna happen with 2.12

I was expecting it to be like on the s950 where you copy sample and edit to get your chops, but from what I can see and what I read there is no function for copying samples in this OS

on my first post cats were like at least he didn't ask how am I gonna chop on my 60 and I thought it was a joke

anyway for now I'm fine with sampling drums in one at a time, I did a lot of things on the mv8000 to get some drums I liked, and even the ones that I came up with that I liked fell short for me, so taking the time to sample drums one at a time will take less time than what I was doing and I'm already loving the drums on the 60

I'm still learning my way around the sequencer, shuffle/swing, timing correct, shift timing. and the sequencer and midi outs are a big part of why I got the 60

I love that classic hip hop sound and the time it takes on an SP1200 or MPC 60 is worth it to me

Aye man, are you talking about (for example) sampling a drum loop, and then chopping individual kicks/snares/hats from this without sampling the drums again? If so, what I do to get around this is save a drum loop to my floppy, then load that sound to another pad. You can then go to "Edit a sound" and edit each pad differently. This way you can chop each drum on different pads by using the same sampled drum loop, and without taking up extra memory. Please let me know if this helps!

I have a question: Can I get some clarity around whether or not there was differences or updates in the shuffle/swing feature between 2.02 and 2.12? And then 3.10?

Nice trick! Thanks! I have 2.02, does 3.10 also cannot copy?

I am such a tard, lol. I have both MPC60 and also S950, and when I plan to use/sample long bars or loops, I have been chopping them up in 1/4 and 1/2 bars, but individually in audacity and then into MPC60/S950, like 16-32 times..lol! Takes allll day, haha.... this copy/chop trick will be nice in both my MPC60 and also S950 and save a loooot of time - just sample one long loop, just one time, and do all the work and chopping inside the machine, instead of individually..can't wait to try this.
