Need help with using digital ins/outs with mbox2

I have a rca cable going from the out (red) of my 1000 into the in (white) of the mbox 2, but I dont hear any sound. Can someone help me set it up right

You need a digital (coaxial cable) 1st. Not a regular RCA cable than you need to switch the m box to s-pdif from internal clock.

It's more than just switching the cable. You're going to have to change the tracks input assignment. It should be spdif1/2. Of course there's a possibility that it's not right in your i/o setup screen.

One more thing. You're not going to have any volume control of the digital out on the mbox.

If you're wanting to do that so you can run it to your stereo a better choice might be to get some 1/4" to RCA cables. That way you can just use the main outs and be able to control the level from the mbox.

If your just wanting to run back into your MPC 1/4" cables might work better. However if you really want to run digital into the MPC, you're going to have to be aware of the level. You would only be able to lower it with the faders in Protools.
