I'm trying to hook up a chain with my MPC, keyboard and module
I'm following directions of an alternative walk-through manual I have and want to know what the problem is

(keyboard) OUT >> (mpc) IN (1)

(mpc) OUT (A) >> (module) IN

I have the MIDI on... the prgm # set from the module for the sound... MIDI 1A.... keyboard midi channel 1

the problem is that when I play the keys, the module sound doesn't play...?
...if I go to record on the MPC and start playing keys, I can't hear it, but it comes up on playback

when I'm switching through module sounds shouldn't I just be able to test them on the keyboard?

what do you mean "it comes up on playback"? do you mean you see the midi notes in the mpc sequencer but hear no sound?

is your module connected to a mixer or interface for sound.. midi doesn't transmit sound, only information..

the playback on my MPC

press record on MPC, hit keys on the keyboard - and hear nothing through the speakers connected to the mod

but then after the bars have been recorded, I can hear the sound from the mod playing what I hit on the keys

yea I know about the MIDI info and all that, and the sound coming from the mod is hooked up to the amplifier

yes - isn't it simply the Soft Thru function on the MPC's MIDI page?

sucker ducker wrote:I don't get it though, cause everything is working but I just cant practice what I want to record

a MIDI sequencer doesn't have a "parctice what I want to record" setting, think abotu it in terms of what's happening.

your keyboard is sending MIDI data to the MPC, not to the sound module. Your MPC can send MIDI data to the sound module.

To get the data from the keyboard to go to the sound module you need to tell the MPC to re-transmit what it receives.
