Am I safe to switch back to Akai OS?

Hi,

I'm going on tour soon with an MPC 2500 running my set. I'm fairly new to the MPC, learned it for the purpose of using it on tour (instead of a laptop).

About a week ago I switched from Akai OS to JJOS2XL, then to JJOS2. I thought this was going to offer some features that would really improve my ability to tweak parameters in my live set on the fly... But actually, I find the JJOS has made the Q-Link slider behavior unreliable/buggy, and generally it doesn't really offer anything to my live set after all. I'm sure that once I start using the MPC to produce music, I will appreciate what JJOS has to offer...

But for now, I want to switch back to Akai OS... Here's the thing: when I switched from Akai OS to JJOS, my programs were messed up and it took a load of work to get things fixed.

If I switch to Akai OS, and find that my Programs or anything else are totally messed up, I won't have time to deal with this again. In which case I'll just have to stick to JJOS2.

Here's what I want to ask: If I install Akai OS, load up my Programs, and decide it's too messed up, can I go back to JJOS2 and things will be as they were? Of course, I understand that Saving the Programs while in Akai OS would be bad. But if I just try switching back and forth without saving, is there any chance that this alone will mess up my Programs?

thanks for replying -- are you 110% sure?! i have a show on Saturday and i would be so screwed... logic tells me that without saving it should work, but OS changes can mess with things.... have you done this by any chance?

Copy your project folders and then try it on the copies.
Do SAVE ENTIRE PROJECT when saving ur copies to new folders.
I wouldn't like to commit to 110% because of what's at stake for ya, but I can't see a problem.

and Hi.. I'll be sure to check out ur album. I used to play your tracks when I dj'ed and ran a night up in Sheffield from 2002-2006.

what q-link related problems are you having with os 2 just out of curiosity?

have you tried OS1?

QLINKS should work similar to the akai os with the added benefit of all the realtime QLINK options.
even if os1 worked better for you, you should still go through all your programs just to be on the safe side and make sure nothing needs to be readjusted parameter wise.

If you do need to tweak any programs you may have to get them to work properly under different OS's, don't forget to rename and save the program so that in case you decide to switch back you can still use your programs without having to change them yet again
