Can I do this? so I can play drums + sample at the same time instead of copying sequence 1(sample) to sequence 2, then adding drums on top of it so I have:

Sequence 1(sample)
Sequence 1 copied(sample with added drums)

Also, are there better methods for constructing a song?

have you looked at using different tracks within a sequence?

have you read your manual?

I recommend the "Beat Making on the MPC1000" e-book, sold through this site. It's a lot easier to learn from than the manual

I'm gonna give you some help even though you should DEF read the manual,

ok I'm gonna explain this very basic cos I'm tired, in fact I'll just lay down an exercise an you'll work out how to make songs from that i'm sure.

turn on your mpc

create a new program containing just a kick, a snare and a hi hat

select a blank sequence

set the sequence to 4 bars with loop on, lay down your hi hat on track one, your kick on track 2 and your snare on track 3.

you should now have just ONE sequence with 3 tracks, now copy your sequence 3 times....

you will now have 3 identical sequences,

go to sequence 1 and track mute the kick and snare

got to sequence 2 and track mute the kick

leave sequence 3 as it is with all tracks UN-muted.

now go to song-mode+pad something

now set your sequences in order then press covert

make sure you set it to track mutes ignored.

boom, you should now understand how to make a song using the more standard way with an mpc...

remember this is just the most basic things you can do, my songs sometimes have 20 or more sequences in them...

I bet your next question will be about how to record track mutes...well I cant help cos I have forgotten because song seems to be all I ever need.

by the way, you could paypal me 100 dollars an I'll answer your next 50 mpc questions in detail. I think thats worth it...

$2 to not be puzzled, bargain.

Thanks eltoppo51. I'll have to kindly decline your offer since I'm curently deadbeat, unfortunently.

I must apologize for my blatant ignorance surrounding the functions of the MPC1000 and of course, my undesirable approach.

I admit I haven't indulged in the manual much, so that I shall do to avoid further and future belittlement by the fine folks here at MPC-forums.com

I will strive to become knowledgeable in this area of study for I, Booster, a citizen of the Earth, may one day be given the oppurtunity to enlighten a fellow human who's not so familiar with this "Music Production Center", also known as the MPC1000, also known as one of the many Divine Tools of Creation

As stated in a previous post, I will look into the recommendation thou hath bestowed upon thee, Booster, a citizen of the Earth, Pastor-of-Muppets.

With that said, I bid you all good day. Smoke trees all day, everyday, mutha ****.

^ You should have waited for me to ask another stupid question related to the MPC to drop "omg....... Please, sell your mpc....", not on a question regarding a username change :(

better luck next time lol ;)
