????? MY INTERNAL 80GIG HARD DRIVE?????

I JUST INSTALLED AN 80GIG INTERNAL HARD DRIVE IN MY 2500. QUESTION IS, HOW DO I MAKE DRUM KITS OR PROGRAMS THAT CAN BE EASILY ACCESSED FOR DIFFERENT DRUM SOUNDS OTHER THAN FISHING THROUGH A PILE OF CF CARDS???? PLEASE HELP, I'M CLUELESS.......

On my HD I have folders:

00-SAMPLES
01-PROJECTS
02-IDEAS (contains any samples I do on the spur of the moment. If I decide to do something with them I usually edit them put the edits in the appropriate folder in SAMPLES)
AUTOLOAD (contains my fave metronome. I can't get on with the stock one... too quiet and easy to mask)

In SAMPLES:

00-DRUM_MACHINE
01-DRUMS_ACOUSTI
01-SYNTHS
02-BASS
03-SOUND_FX
04-VOCALS
05-BRASS

etc, etc, etc.... you get the picture


next level f.e. in 00-DRUM_MACHINE I have:

00-ROLAND
01-EMU
02-OBERHEIM
03-LINN

etc, etc

I put the number at the front so I can have the folders in the order I want... because they are arranged alphabetically.
Then I save my PROGRAM in the same folder where the samples are from (e.g. 00-SAMPLES > 00-DRUM_MACHINE > 02-OBERHEIM > DMX).
Whenever I save an entire project I save it all in a new folder in the PROJECT folder, and leave the original program in tact in the samples folder.


It's worth it to have a think and sit down and organise a folder structure for yourself that'll work for you. It'll save a lot of time in the long run.

p.s. this is just the way I've been doin it so far... I may change this structure if I find a better way, but it works ok atm.

Just realised we're not in the JJOS forum >.< hehe... yeah it's a lot tougher to see your folder structure in the AkaiOS..
