Good inexpensive studio monitors

I read a review in Tape Op Magazine about inexpensive Tascam monitors that seemed to sincerely impress the writer. It's late, I'll clarify which particular model tomorrow. I remember they only cost 100$.

that sounds like these really small tascams my friend just got... they are like 3 inch woofers, they were like 175 canadian for the pair and they sound good.... way better then I ever expected.

The article I spoke of earlier concerned Tascam's Vl-M3 studio monitors. The retail price is normally 100$, but I found a cheaper set here.

I've never personally used these monitors but the author of the article was very impressed with them.

Whats the difference between the M- AUdio bx5a deluxe monitors compared to the Studiophile AV 40 monitors? I've heard both and it seemed to me that the AV40's sound better and at a much cheaper price.
