overall volume controll

When making a beat on the mpc2000xl where is the screen for an overall volume control for each track you've made? The closest thing i've found was remembering which pad i used for each track or using the mixer section...but I m still forced to remember which pad is triggering the sound in order to mess with the volume. just wanted to know if there is a way to mess with the volume for the specific tracks i'm using in the seq.

The track volume is in the main screen, in the bottom right corner. I really can't see how you missed it tho..

First off I wanna say to both peoples ^^^^ who replied to my question. Thanks! Cheech, camon homie I never missed anything it's just that thing in the bottem right corner is your VELOCITY control. It don't do shit but make the sound more present(stronger) or very low and faint but it does not completely lower the level of the track like it were volume control. Atleast thats what I have witnessed. And to the other guy I'm not a newbie to the mpc, I'm obviously not a pro niether but far from newbie. I know how to make beats, sample, midi, and all that fun stuff with the MPC. My only beef is I can't seem to find a dedicated volume control for track 1, track 2, track 3, and so on. Like I said before I am forced to go back to the very pad that the sound came from and lower it's volume not the track of my sequence. What I'm finding out is if you make a 16 track beat with the mpc you gotta go back and find each pad that the sound came from to lower it's volume. A lot of stuff to remember verses...say... a triton I hit the tab that says volume and there is the fricken control I need over each track. I just thought the MPC had a feature like this. Don't get me wrong folks I love my MPC to the fullest, I just wanted to see if there was a way around my problem????? and if anything I said is inaccurate feel free to school me. it does have it its called velocity. i use it like that all the time. Now this is just for the sampler in the mpc if u are using a triton with it then u might have to lower it there. but if u got samples in the mpc move that down.

Not asken bout the sampler, I'm asken bout the volume control of your tracks in a sequence and how the only way I've been able to edit the volume is by remembering the exact pads of the sound I used in my beat. I'm asking if there is anyway around it? Velocity...doesn't that take away from the sound? If I turn it down to 0 I can still hear the sound. I'm only using the triton in comparison as far as volume control goes. You turn your track's volume down to 0 the sound is gone in the triton. I turn the velocity down to 0 in the mpc the sound is still their leading my to believe this is not the volume control but a way of making the sound louder or quiter like an AMP. I've been told by some folks this hurts the punch of your music by turning down velocities to your sounds????? Thanks anyway binger0

dude i do it daily. i lower my hats out with it all the time. U might have to goto other and hit INIT PARAM. There really should be no problem. Velocity is diff from amplitude casue velocity is how hard ur hittin the note. U can also go into the mixer screen and hold shift to select the pads u want in a group then lower the volume there slick

if you have 8 outs or not you can still control it by going into your mixer.Or you can use full level.I'm not sure if that will help because i'm a little confused with your exact probably but try your mixer first.If not post back and we'll ge it straightened out.No worries.

The track velocity is the same thing as the track volume. And no, it doesn't affect the "punch" so to speak.. Of course the louder your bass drum is the harder it will punch, but other than reducing the volume it doesn't affect the sound in any way.
And if you need to turn the track volume all the way down, there's a track mute feature for that.


What bing meant with the sampler thing was that if you control a triton with it then you might have to check the settings on that triton, but if you're only using the mpc then it controls the volume of the samples in that particular track.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer my question. I admit the velocity level confused me for a bit. I turned it down on my track just to see it's effect on the volume and IT DID MAKE THE SOUND LOWER. And just to mess around further I turned it to 0 and still heard my track very low this time. I was confused and couldn't tell if turning the velocity down to a lower suitable level would take away from the quality of my sound ,but from what everyone says the velocity is a volume control.
