Hello board,
First off, props to the all the people here who've made this site a valuable source for info, help, techniques, etc. I'm new the MPC line and the 4000 I purchased a couple of weeks ago is my first unit. While I'm new to the mpc, I'm not new to music (specifically engineering and production) and have been involved with the technical aspect of music for a little over ten years now. Before I downloaded the manuals, and read bits and pieces of it, I was able to navigate the interface, sync the 4000 to my other gear (mpc as master and slave), import samples, chop some samples, sample from an audio cd and a couple of other things such as making a basic drum pattern.
So what is my problem? Well, one of my pads is not working in sample mode.
I assign a sample to pad 14 which is the pad in question, and it doesn't matter if the type is set to instrument or drum, when I press the SAMPLE button and press the pad, I can no longer hear the sample. This only happens when I press the sample button and press TRIM/LP or REGION and only happens on pad 14. I've pressed GLOBAL + SHIFT, GLOBAL and all pads and buttons work fine. I loaded a sample to see if I could hear it while in this mode and I can hear it.
If someone can help me out I'd really appreciate it as I don't think this is a hardware issue but something that has to do with my routing configuration. If it will help any, I'm on OS 1.71 and this is the white mpc 4000. I'm thinking of backing the sounds and samples up, wiping the drive clean and returing the unit to factory default settings, but that is a last resort.
So again, my problem is one of my pads (14) is not working when I press the SAMPLE button and press TRIM/LP or REGION. All help is appreciated and I thank you guys very much for taking a look at this thread.
