Help with using MPC live on stage

Thanks for reading this. I truly appreciate any help from a fellow musician here. I have an mpc500, loaded with lots of samples and ready to go. I only want to use it for live shows, basically as a drum machine. Here's the problem: I spend hours loading samples and assigning them to pads, then I go Save:Program followed by a few prompts. I turn off the machine and hope that when I turn it on it will be ready to go with the samples I had assigned to pads. When I turn it back on, it's right back on the default program and all the time I spent assigning samples to pads is wasted. The best I've been able to do is Save:Program and have one or two pads set up with samples the way I saved them, but the rest seem to have nothing on them. I can't use the mpc live if I have to turn it on and spend two hours setting up the pads with the drum sounds that I want to use that night. Is it possible to set up the pads the way I want them, turn off the MPC, and have it set up and ready to go as a drum machine (not a sequencer) from the moment I turn it on?

you got to save entire memory project to have all save

Load folder is occassionally more successful at loading your project back in than using load project.

Okay, when I try to save entire mem. project it says 'directory error'. One thing I noticed that might make my problem more clear is that when I set up the pads the way I want them, I have to 'Load Folder' of the drumkits that I want to pick individual snares and kicks from. After I turn off the mpc and turn it on again, and I 'load program' of the setup that I had, it shows the sample names on the pads, but there's a question mark before each one, and no sound comes out. I think I can load the program with the setup I want, then make the sounds play by loading each folder that the samples originally came from. Does that make sense? This isn't the greatest way to get ready for a live show, as loading the folders and program will take some time, but at least it's something. But isn't there some way for me to just turn the bloody mpc on and have it all ready to go with the samples I want. (I already have Autoload on, so that's not the problem)
