Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Yooooo...so I was about to get into the production business and I needed some help regarding the mpc500 and the software to use with it...I wanted to produce professional sounding beats for a rapper to take from a home studio set up to a semi-professional studio in which to record vocals. So, I was wondering, if I was to get an mpc500, would protools 8 le be a good software to use, or should I be using something else. Thanks!

Pro Tools is good, but MPC500 isn't the way to go. If you want to produce professionally, look into a better MPC.

Yes protools 8 is great to use with the mpc 500. I use them together each and everyday.

Regardless of the offhand 500 comment, it could be valid if you need more than 16 midi tracks... the bigger MPCs can support 32/64 midi tracks. Still though, the 500 is entirely capable of pro level beats for those who want to attain them. Pro Tools with an MPC 500 is as good a combination as any.

Plenty of pro tracks have been made with a lot less hardware/software.
