A lot of times, the seller will include their copy of the software with the used interface. You just have to transfer the license to your name. There is a form you have to fill out, and I believe a $25 fee. Wish your were looking a couple months ago. Sold my Mbox for $125 with software.

What exactly are you trying to spend?

so for my birthday i got the mbox 2 with pro tools 8!

all i need to do now is go out and buy the right cables.

"noob" warning

:

1. so will i need two midi cables (for in and out)?

2. my sampler (asr-10), like most, has stereo outputs. but the mbox just has one input jack per input. will i need one of these to go from two to one? :

Image

or is there a way to record both in? would i go through both inputs? (left - Input 1, right - Input 2)

if its anything like every other interface it should give you the option to record 2 mono inputs(stereo) on one channel in your daw

but i've never worked with an mbox something i need to change i guess

Although I think the mbox 1 sounds better than the mbox2 by far...

midi can either be accomplished with a 2x2 midi interface (usb) and mbox1, or the 2

Both can record 4 tracks at a time... two analog, two digital (spdif in)

Dude, get the freekin 002 at least... racks are pretty dirt cheap right now.

10X the flexibility and expansiveness..

protools is only really dope when you have a bunch of physical in's and out's

PS... that ASR won't slave fer ish. the mp will.

man.. i dont want to seem like i barely read your post, but even more confused now..

im not gonna get an mbox 1, and im not trading my asr in for an mpc... so thats settled...

this is the part that confuses me.. my asr only has a stereo output, (no 8 track expander), so i can only record one track at a time. so i wouldn't have much use for a 002, right? im not asking for recommendations on what to trade in my birthday presents for, cause im sure they are sufficient, this is a great interface, im just trying to understand it better. so when you say 2x2 midi interface (usb) what do you mean? i'm just asking about the cables.. what cables will i need to connect my asr to the interface, with both midi and audio.. and then also i don't get how to go from the two outputs of the asr to the one input of the interface.. so yeah im basically saying the same shit over again but hopefully you understand my question better, thanks for the answer

Connect the MIDI out of the Mbox to the asr - You can then trigger the asr from Pro Tools.

Connect the MIDI out of the asr to the Mbox - you can then use the asr to trigger the Pro Tools RTAS instruments.

So far as recording the stereo out of the asr - connect the left output to input 1 on the Mbox - and the right output to input 2 on the Mbox.

You will then be able to record the output to a single stereo audio track in Pro Tools.

So all you need is two mono audio cables and two MIDI cables
