Problem w/ 144pin SODIMM RAM "Memory Problem"

I just bought a 128mb RAM for my Akai MPC500 from ebay. & I installed it as it says in instructions. What did I do wrong to make it do this? anyone had this before "Memory Problem Check the memory"

to add mored detail it does a SODIMM test 128mb pass 1 : & the percentage. though it has a problem loading full 100%

sticker labeled on chip says PC133 256MB. purchased this 1 week ago.

See if you can return the ram chip or exchange it for another one. I know it's ebay but the more reputable dealers usually have fair policies on this kind of situation. If all else fails, then go here:

Yeah it works. I have that one in my 1000 and it will work for the 500 and 2500 also. It's more money but at least newegg is a reputable dealer that isn't trying to sell you bad ram and if for some reason it is bad you can definitely return it or exchange it.

I strongly agree, and purchased it right when you sent that link. @least it's a company brand too. well i resent my ebay one I bought, which didn't work. And gonna get it replaced to see if the other one works. if all else fails w/ that ebay one. I'll be sending the tons of bad reports on that product/seller.

The problem with purchasing stuff on eBay is that you just never know what you're getting and need to be willing to take the risk. It's always insane to see people bidding full price (or even more) on something not knowing if it really even is what the seller claims it to be.

I managed to get my 500 for $300 on ebay with the memory upgrade and a 32gb CF card. Great deal, but the seller also packaged it with the *wrong* power supply, so I flipped a bit when it wouldn't boot properly... was lucky that it didn't fry... and had to shell out a few extra bucks to get the proper power adapter... though fortunately battery power worked.
