Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey, :?:

I need some help! My band just got an MPC500 to use for shows.
We'd like to put some background noises, background vocals on the background. Not just a drum beat. The tutorials I've seen was how to put drum beats on the pads. We'd like to put a whole song on the pad so when we hit it during the show it'll play like a keyboard track or something. I've tried to upload a wav file (16bit) on the MPC500 and hit MODE, LOAD, LOAD SAMPLES, ASSIGN TO PAD BANK b and PAD 5. It says it was successful but when I'm trying to play it back it doesn't do anything.....

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!! Can someone please write down a tutorial for me what to do exactly to make this work?
I hope I'm clear. Sorry about my English!

Thanks
L

It might help to list the size of the samples (.wav) files you are trying to load.

Can you please list the exact steps you are following to load your samples, such as "Push mode button, push pad 2 (load), scroll data wheel to samples, arrow down to buttom LCD field and scroll to directory...". It is possible that you are doing something wrong in your steps that might be obvious to somebody here with more experience.

Thanks, and good luck.

Looks like you bought it just for this, so maybe you didn't really explore/experiment with the 500 much, which means there's a chance you haven't dealt with the "Full Level" button much... as a default, the MPC does not have "Full Level" selected... because of the insensitivity of the pads, not using Full Level means the sound comes out very quietly, almost not at all, unless you press the pads VERY hard... so either press the pads a lot harder or just press "Full Level"... might not be the solution but give it a try if you haven't.

It sounds like you need the SP-404 from Roland. It can stream direct from the CF-card (up to 2 gigs, maybe more). And it haves alot of great effects.
