Searching for an audio interface for tracking out.

Right now I'm using a PreSonus AudioBox USB, and using the front 2 Ins for monitoring my MPC and solo tracking out (through my main stereo outs):



It's really time consuming going track by track. I'm looking for something with around 8 ins + MIDI. I really don't care about Mic connections, ADAT, and not necessarily picky about USB 2.0 or Firewire. Also, without making a new thread, can I monitor my MPC through the S/PDIF jack?

It was a little hard to setup with the drivers, even on XP (you gotta disable your original sound card drivers, in my case I even deleted them). The 2 mic Pres are pretty good. Through the headphone output you could monitor everything, instead of just the input recording, which is good. If you just need a small audio interface, its pretty sickk.

check out the RME, it has a really great price to quality ratio, one of the best converters in the market

Yeah looks good, just a bit off my price range, and I don't have a rack. Do you know anything cheaper?

Look around for an interface with at least eight outs and midi, draw up a shortlist...

Then ask about those you have selected.

I reckon the Digidesign 002 is a decent choice, I've had one you dont have to use Pro Tools with it.

Look on ebay, or should I say "Search for an audio interface..." as you did

Yes, unless you happen to be deaf.

S/PDIF = Stereo in + Stereo out.

Ye thank's man. I'm looking at the M-Audio Delta 1010lt, which would be perfect for me since I am on a desktop. Pretty cheap too. Has anyone ever had any experiences with this card?

I believe that M-Audio requires a PCI card to be installed in your desktop with all the connections on a breakout cable?

In terms of flexibility I suggest you go with a straight USB or even better a Firewire solution.

But if your' only ever going to make music at home in your studio and dont want to invest, the M-Audio is fine.

Thanks man. I don't want to bother you too much, but would this work out good: run my monitors into the interface card through the stereo L + R, 8 outs of the MPC into the 8 ins on the card and monitor the MPC through the S/PDF jacks?

Having looked at the 1010lt in this video I notice it has the analogue I/O on RCA sockets, so it is not immediately compatible with the outputs of an MPC which are of the 1/4 inch balanced variety.

Most pro-level audio interfaces employ 1/4 inch analogue I/O sockets.

Id give the Delta 1010lt a miss if I were you, it is cheaper for a reason. The 1010 rack is next in line and has proper 1/4 inch analogue I/O as you would expect at the higher price.
