Just my heads up if anyone is interested as I've seen a few posts on this shit...I recently decided to fit a hdd to the 2500. The model I bought was: Samsung HM160HC 160GB 2.5" Hard Drive IDE 5400rpm. It works perfectly. It needs to be an IDE not SATA hard drive. Mine cost £40 new from ebay. Installing was a two minute job but I first hooked it to my PC and initialised it through windows then formatted it.

Once in the MPC I needed to get the 1.24 os installed over my 1.23 os (the 1.23 won't recognise the full capacity of 160gb). I then reformatted it inside the MPC. You should have a cage already inside the MPC for attaching the drive, you will need a couple of small screws though possibly.

Also if you are looking at upgrading the RAM (this is pretty much essential) there is no need to go for the akai stuff, I went with a kingston stick and it works fine.

I know this stuff has been covered but I hope this helps someone.

Peace

good info. bro, i just recently installed the same to my 2500. the four screws needed to hold the hard drive to the insert tray can be found inside the plastic bag containing the owner's manual. quick question, i thought by upgrading with 256mb ram, i would get 24 minutes of sample time, but it's only showing 11 min. 39 sec...... is this correct?
