Change Pitch in 16 Levels Mode without Speeding Up Sample???

Is it possible to assign the same sample to each pad tuning it to all the different notes without the sample speeding up. Right now when I do 16 levels the pitch changes but so does the speed.

Changing pitch by changing sample duration has been the method ever since samplers were invented. People have minimized this issue by using multisample sets in which a new sample was recorded every few keys. This prevents a `lot` of change when pitching, but still occurs.

However, the hardware available now allows us to change pitch without changing the tempo or the speed of the tempo. This is well beyond the abilities of the MPC series. The two machines that can do this that come to mind are the Electrix Repeater and the Roland VP-9000. The Electrix is a looper and the Roland is a phrase sampler. Neither is a sampler in the traditonal sense, but do excel at the jobs they are designed to do.

You could work around the issue in the MPC2000XL by copying the snd, changing the pitch (tune) and then resampling back to the original duration. While this works, it is not a mainstay of the MPC and other equipment is better suited for tasks like this (if you can afford it and need to do it a lot). This does use additional memory for each new pitch needed and can take some time to process the resampling.
