most efficient method in saving samples to floppy,2000 class

I can only save 8 seconds of stereo. If saving mono, will the quality be the same when using an outboard mixer to split to stereo? I see some cats with all their samples on 1 disk and others with many disks.

The classic trick to get away with stereo samples is to sample at a faster speed, eg a 33rpm record sample at 45 or even 78! Then just lower the pitch internally! I always sample percussion in mono and then my cuts in stereo, depending on what sounds they are. Mono is exact same quality as Stereo, but Stereo contains 2 tracks for left and right, whereas mono is just 1!

Another good trick is to continually purge your program for unused sounds, eg the long loop you originally sampled to cut up.

i dont get why anyone would go through all that when you can get an external zip100 drive for about 15 bucks on ebay

with the standard 2 MB ram you should be able to get 12.5 secs of stereo sampling.

well yeah for saving the data afterwards... but the above mentioned tricks are for working around the RAM limitations.

oh. the ram is cheap on ebay too lol.

but yahh ive been there.trimming every sample as close as possible just to free up a little memory. so glad i dont have to use floppys anymore either
