Help!! I need a midi expert!

I have a mpc 2000 and I have a casio ctk 5000 keyboard. On the back of my casio ctk 5000 I only have a usb type b port. For some reason this key board does not have the dual traditional in and out midi hookups. I bought a cheap usb to midi cord( traditional midi on one end and a usb type a on the other end)and Im having no luck. My question is. Can this work? Is there a way to midi my casio ctk 5000 usb type b port out into the mpc 2000's traditional in out midi ports?

I think the CASIO is looking to get plugged into a PC/MAC.. Your USB-MIDI cable adaptor thing is to let USB equipped PC's spit out MIDI. It relies on the USB IC's in the computer to translate MIDI.. The CASIO spits out USB, and also relies on the PC's USB knowledge to make sense of it. There is no USB wisdom in your MPC, there is NO HOPE FOR THE CASIO.

Spend $200 on a nice MIDI controller.
