MPC1000 Blk - New pads or old..How do I tell the difference?

Yeah, of course. I was quick on the 'buy it now' because I was out bid twice in the past week on an mpc1000. haste makes waste.

I ordered a pad upgrade anyway with a free custom color. the pads on mine are pretty good and i'm making beats just fine. I should be able to sell them on ebay.

There is no way to check by the serial code of the machine?

Asking people this on ebay is a bit confusing for people who are selling an MPC which they know nothing about like Pawn Shops or parents who are selling their kids gear.

I have owned 2 blue mpc 1ks w old pads... Never one problem with any of the response on them nor have had any go bad.... I would wait.. And Itoured with a blue 1k....

I've never experienced pad failure on the MPC1000s with the old pads. Bought my MPC1000BK used on ebay back in '06. It has the silver back and old pads. Two years later ('08) I bought the pad upgrade kit just in-case a pad did ever fail. The brand new upgrade package still remains unopened to this day. So far, I've never needed to install it because my old pads still haven't failed on me yet. They still work like a charm. I once had a blue&red MPC1000 too (which I bought new at the time) and never had the pads fail on it either. Maybe it's because I baby my gear. I'd consider myself fortunate. One thing I don't do is bang hard on my pads. I gently trigger them.

Anyhow, I'm still keeping my upgrade kit just as a precaution as long as I own my MPC1000. If I do ever run into pad problems, at least I'll know it's there on standby just waiting to be installed.

I read something about black and silver back panel where all the I/O's are..supposedly ones with black back panels are the newer ones... bit confusing. but apparently not all 1000bk had the pad upgrade...
