Just wondering....

is anyone here familiar with connecting using your mpc with logic via an mbox?.....someone told me that was their setup and i was wondering how it works.....what are the connection etc, and does pro tools need to be running.....if this topic has been discussed already can someone direct me to the page? thanks

You do not have to use Pro Tools software with an Mbox, use whatever DAW you like.

If you would shed some light on exactly how you would like to use your MPC with Logic (and which mbox you have) I can point you towards some helpful threads...

sorry man, dont mean to be repetitive or annoy you or anyone else, its just that since the last time I posted I still havent accomplished what i want to accomplish and ive done tons of research but still not quite there

the work flow im trying to accomplish is a little different however from the one you were speaking about in that thread, well atleast what i got from it was different, as i dont want to use logic as a sound module, i want to use sounds already in my mpc, as well as my motif xs8 and or miko, and make beats in/on my mpc then transfer the beat into logic which i can edit-arrange-add-mix down etc all to its final version.......i recently learned that you could use an mbox or digi003 rack to use both logic and the mpc together without using any sync or midi time code etc.....but so far i havent been able to get mine working...

to answer urs ?'s i have an mpc 4k and a mpc 2500, the original mbox and the digi003 rack an usb audiobox... logic 9...motif xs8 mpk 61 and a open labs miko

any info or reference to a good thread that will teach me this will be glady appreciated.

by "learned" do you mean that the sales guy at guitar centrer told you this?

nah i havent been to a guitar center in quite sometime.....someone that actually has the setup told me about it....but i lost contact with him without getting the proper connections and steps to actually get it working

^^^ You'll have to "physically" connect and sync if you don't wanna experience any drift or whatnot.

I don't know of any "wireless" sync options with anything being marketed as of yet.

not wireless, but he said he uses his mpc and logic together but doesnt use any midi time code or clock but instead uses his mbox, he sent me the template he uses which was all audio tracks...if that helps explain what hes doing....

I reckon you should forget about what your old mate told you once and concentrate on setting your studio up in a way that works for you, which is what most of us strive for.

Keep it simple, at least it will be easier to set-up yourself and work with.

Having more gear than you need is not very helpful and merely adds to the confusion.
