Thanks for the heads up dude but it's not on the priority list at the moment although it's a bummer, I'll see if I can fix it first (think it's a faulty power regulator inside)

Damn, I just bought one of these last week. I've have the serial version for a while, but came across the USB MKII version for a good deal and bought it. But yours is cheaper. Is that Euro only shipping?

Nope, I ship this baby worldwide. Well, it's still cheap at the moment, but I guess the price will increase. Probably gonna end at around 80,- Euro plus 34,-€ shipping to the US (insured, trackable) in your case.

That 24.8 looks nice. At first I thought it was a mx8000, but then I focused in and saw it was a mackie.

No way for Behringer gear! Yeah, I like it, too. Massive routing capabilities! But since I switch to Record and get rid of most of my hardware, the interface plus patchbay will be good enough for me!

Mate don't you feel any pain getting rid of all that lovely hardware? I mean if you can work in the box and save some cash good on you but I couldn't sell all that in one go lol Selling the MPC must be painful no?

Man, I'm agonizing, believe me!

That was all the stuff I collected over like 2 years and many many nights of endless thinking how to set stuff up etc. And when the day came everything was connected and up and running BOOOOOM barely touched the stuff!

I realized that going hardware only was lying to myself like "yeah, it's more hands on" and shit. But I noticed that I'm a linear sequencing guy and the pattern concept of the MPC is setting too many boundaries for me. Also, I wanted editing audio be a bit more of a breeze than with my multitrack.

So, I made the decision to switch back to Reason. When I had Reason 2.5 I made a lot more music. I was listening to some stuff I did in 2004 and it was remarkable how "on point" most of the tracks where. So, I think it is a good decision. All the time I used the MPC I was getting tired when creating variations in patterns cause a DAW style MIDI editor for me is much more hands on in that case. I know, it's a matter of taste, but I learned making ish on Reason and after switching to the MPC I just had to admit I'm too use to the Reason concept to adapt to anything else.

My future set up will be my MacBook with Reason and Record, Lexicon i Onix interface, AKAI MPK 88 . Out of all the stuff I have, I'm gonna keep my Roland SH 02 and Casio VZ-10M. I'd really like to keep more, but a) I wouldn't use all the stuff and b) I need the money! So that will be it! There's loads to learn then and I'm looking forward to do recording sessions in my living room. Maybe someday I'll get a Little Phatty (that was the only fun unit of all the synth I was trying when I last time went to a store.....wtf, always lusting )

Yeah, junkie, that's my personal "tuition fee" I had to pay to learn this lesson!

Man we have all been there! After all how would we know what works best for you if you haven't tried it, it's no good some one telling you what is a better way to work if it don't work for you.
I always in the past used to use a software sequencer like Cubase on the Atari or Logic on a PC...usualy with the accompanying hardware synths, when I found soft samplers like the EXS-24 aided with Re-Cycle I was like screw this Akai S series ish I can do it quicker on the computer, then I sampled my hardware and sold that and used a few VST's...then few years later my hard drive breaks...I lose everything and I didn't do any back ups...gave it up for like 2 years or something then thought I'll get what I always wanted a MPC so I did, then came the mixer and a load of hardware ish again lol
Let me tell you personally I couldn't go back to using Logic or Reason hahah
To confirm that I got a MAC and Logic...tried using it with some VST's and the hardware tanks to the AMT8 and I just couldn't groove with that, then tried integrating the two and was just like uhh umm don't know if I like this lol...The MPC seriously works for me, I can do things so quick on it..the only down side is the money, space and yea money lol or lack of should I say.
All I use Logic for now is aux sends from the mixer to 828 for FX lol
Glad you are keeping the SH...that is one hell of a synth, it's great to have a simple analogue about that you can tweek and play.

You know, I actually like the MPC when it comes to working on ideas. Some 4 to 8 bars of nice grooves. I could groove it I tell you. But when it comes to arranging a complete song it is just so pain in the - you get me! - for me! And creating beats and tracking 4 bars out to a DAW and arrange the rest there....what do I need an MPC 5000 for that? It's a capable machine, but it has to go, it's its faith.

Let's see how the other ish works out for me. I guess sooner or later I'm gonna get a hardware unit anyway. Maybe a Machine Drum or one of those vintage MPCs? You'll never know! But the things on my priority list are a second mic to do some proper stereo recording and tons of percussion stuff. I wanna do crazy live recordings and crank that up...let's see. Ah, and there's still the Little Phatty...maybe there's a deal on one someday.

The Roland SH 2 is a beast. It's such a raw synth. I love it. I'm looking forward to putting it through Records Line 6 amp simulators.
