Hey all,

I'm hoping that I can use an expression pedal to change the tempo on the fly during playback. I want to do this via a volume pedal-like expression pedal. It would also be cool to use it for fllter sweeps or to change the speed of note repeat, or any other thing that might be midi recordable/assignable.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance!

I know you can do start and stop with a footswitch and also assign a pads to it....but that's all I can remember. I dont have mpc anymore but I believe there was more options available. I used 1/4 plug

just hit mode/other/footswitch and it tells you what can be controlled with the footswitch. you've got the transport controls, tap tempo, individual pads, function keys, pad banks, repeat and erase.
so the question is, can you use any of those possibilities to change the tempo. you've got tap tempo, but i don't think that's what you're after. anyway of getting it on a function key?

tap tempo is closer to what i need, and I might be agle to fake it with one, but I was hoping for something like a volume pedal, where fully pressed down would correlate to the high tempo, and fully up would correlate to the lowest tempo of the set range.

What do you mean by getting it on a function key?

I'd like to use this for live recording and performance applications.

if tempo can be adjusted with midi cc messages, you could probably accompolish this by running your expression pedal into your computer. make appropriate tweaks in MIDI Yoke to do what you want it to do and run it back out to your mpc.

I assumed that something like this would be the key. Am I going to need to run it through a midi in, eg, expression pedal to my digi 002, back to the mpc?

It just sounds like a lot of work for a live setting.
