1300 to spend....

My current setup consists of the following:

mpc 3000
event TR8
Behringer eurorack mx 1604a
audiophile 2496
PC

I am looking to add a synth, controller, preamp/compressor/gate/de-esser, and a mic. I thinking about a trinity rack, edirol midi controller, focusrite voicemaster pro, and a rode ntk tube mic. Of course all this will come from ebay, used/fairley new, to make ends meet.

what would you guys get if you had this current setup and had 1300 to spend?

i wouldnt look at the trinity rack. I have herd it sounds horrible in multitimbre mode.

I'd get a midi interface and a synth with midi controller sends like a used Nord Lead. That way I could use it as a midi controller and a synth. Prety hot huh? And since I invested in the midi interface, in the future lets say I wanted to upgrade and add more synths or sound modules in the future, I would be ready for that.

Now since I won't have much (if anything) left over for a mic and preamp, I'd just get a used CAD or Rode condenser mic and use the pres on my Behringer mixer in the meantime. Then when I'd saved up enough I'd go get a Vipre and a U87.

the access virus c is a killer synth.... just got one a few months ago and
i really swear by it now..... the multi's are absolutely fantastic and watch out for the 1 pole filter emu... it's just too good to be true... when you layer it up and use it fully, you'll hardly need to use another synth...

Yeah, I got my Motif 6 for $1300. When the new ES version came out, the Guitar Center near me had a floor model Motif 6, they had to make shelf room for the new ES and I got the deal. The price dropped once the new ones came out and you can usually cop a floor model for cheaper. Just a thought. But the Motif rack I think is under a grand, which leaves $$ for your controller.

dont get the motif classic even if you can get it for 1300, cause compare to the es its just not the same. The motif classic has good bread and butter sounds but the effects in the seq mode are so weak.

focusrite voicemaster pro, and a rode ntk tube are good, for your sounds I would get a proteus 2000 because the sounds are good and the price is low ( I got mine for $220).

You can't go wrong with the Voicemaster Pro... as for mics, make sure you do some research... different mics have their own strengths and weaknesses... i.e. vocals vs. instruments, female vs. male, rap vs. singing etc... and, I'd buy the mic new if you can. but, some suggestions are... like Jonespnice mentioned the Rode, the marshalls aren't to bad[MXL's], Audio Technica AT4033, CAD Equitek, Groovetube Electronics, Shure SM58[one of the best general purpose mics out there].... And, for the money check out Mics by Studio Projects, especially the C1... probably the best sounding vocal mic under $200.
