Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,

I've been using the mpc 2000 for ages now and thought I'd invest in an external hard drive. I've worked with zips and lost two much data through dodgy zip disks!

The drive is just over 1gb. I've set the scsi ID to 5, just like you would using the zip drive. When I try accessing it on the mpc it just says "waiting........" and hangs like that.

I know the drive has been pre-formatted to NTFS by the previous owner and I wondered if this could be the problem?

Any help guys?

Hard Drive pre-formatted to NTFS . . . MPC will not recognize this format. But if the drive were compatible it would at least be recognized ad then you could MPC-format and partition. (assuming the scsi port is in good working order)

The question is if the hard drive is compatible as it is not recognized.

What is the brand, model no., and is it scsi?

Could also be that the drive is bad. I have seen the MPC say 'waiting' and hanging for zip drives when they go bad.
