i buyed the SCSI for my 60mk2 and still unrecognized...

hi everybody, i got the 3.10 OS in my mpc 60 mk2 and i buyed the scsi interface on ebay (second hand...) and i connect all right (i hope so...) doing step by step all the explainations of the manual (to install the interface...) and i scan and scan the interface but... not recognice the interface...
can anybody help me?

searching scsi for hard disk... <Cancel>
and after that... any.. i press "disk"
go to "8" than "4".. on make SCSI device active i put adress "auto" (like the manual says..)
and in timeout for SCSI scan i put 99 secs....

Did you try all IDs instead of setting to auto ?

You're being way too unspecific about what you're actually trying to do, but I'll try anyway..

Exactly what are you trying to connect? I hope you do understand that the "searching.."-message doesn't mean that the MPC is searching for the SCSI interface. It's searching for connected SCSI devices, nothing else!

What SCSI devices have you connected? Is the SCSI chain terminated? If you've got several SCSI devices in the chain, does all devices have their own unique IDs ? Are you totally sure that the device you're trying to connect is really working?

I have two zips .. pre i find a scsi drive has to find the interface (as you put in the manual ..) but does not recognize ...

Can you take picture of your setup and how you have connected the board inside the MPC.

Since the MPC says it is "Searching SCSI for hard disk" it leads me to believe the SCSI board is installed correctly, but you have an issue with the drive you are connecting to.

Make sure you power up your SCSI device BEFORE you turn the MPC on and as pUs asked "Is the SCSI chain terminated?"

Re: termination..there's a little switch terminating the zip drive on the back of it which can be set to terminated or not terminated. Also, make sure that the SCSI cable itself isn't faulty - I recently through away a cable that looked brand new, but it just wasn't working on a jaz drive.

If you've already done this, eliminate the possibility of a faulty zip drive. Try it with a PC or a mac, and be TOTALLY sure that it's fully functional. Also take note of what ID it has - it should be found on the same ID on the MPC.

Make sure that you set both switches on the back of your zip drive to DOWN (ID 5 and terminated). This is the normal operating settings. Have a zip disk in the drive and be sure you power on the zip drive before you power on the MPC - remember, the sampler always powers on LAST and powers off FIRST.

If the MPC won't find the zip drive, you either have a bad SCSI interface (the fact that you bought it second-hand leaves that possibility open), that you have it installed incorrectly (post a picture as mpchunter suggested) or that your Zip drive is bad (very possible). You will have to work through these possibilites and eliminate them one at a time. You said that you have two Zip drives, so unless they are both bad, you should be able to remove that from the list by swapping them. Then if you post a picture of how you have the SCSI interface installed and it looks correct, then that removes that possibility. That will leave a bad SCSI interface as the remaining possible problem.

i buyed a internal scsi zip drive, and just i formatted and works perfectly...
26 partitions of 4mb! great...

been awhile but dont think you can "see" a drive until you format it...
