taking drums out

Hey guys i wanted to know how exactly do u take the dums out of a sample or fade them out. I'll give you an example. I recently bought Damu the Fudgemunk's How It Should Sound Vol. 1 & 2, in the intro there are some horns and u can hear the drums but they're really faint. i wanted to know what are the proper techniques on how to do this on the 2500?

classic mistake to think it is possible to take out the drums of a mix. It just isn`t.. I would like to paint you the picture, but right now I have no idea how to even explain this. Not native english speaker..

I didn't listen to the example but flipping the phase of a channel (left or right) will possibly cancel out the drums and whatever else that is in the center of a stereo signal.

That's a high pass filter, he prolly just EQed the sample. He uses the 2000 classic so it can't be a high pass filter. He just turned the low EQ down on the turntable mixer going into the MP, I think?

Doesnt matter if it's the 2000 . The EB16 provide a HiPass filter.

Yea, but according to Damu (if your familiar with his production) he has no upgrades done to his MPC, except for the 8 outs. So he could have assigned the sample to it's own output and EQ'ed it after the MPC. I don't know, but regardless its a type of low-cut/high pass filter.

You think he's ONLY using an MPC in the studio???

Don't know about that. Never heard he talking about this. But yeah could also be a mixing thing.

he is probably running stuff through a mixer before it goes into the mpc... so he is probably using a filter on that and increasing the bands without drums.
