I started out w/ the JV as one of my main pieces and I still go back to it.
You can't go wrong with it and if you ever get tired of those presets you can always expand.

I really dispise when people make comments such as these, and I know you didn't say it, but, for someone to say its "more RnB", is nonsense... Being an artist, as so many here like to claim themselves as, is taking something raw and scultping it to your own needs.....The Motif is a sound module with many features that will allow you to create sounds you want...Were Akai S series samplers created strictly for Hiphop?? Or for MUSIC production.?????

i got a triton studio (fully exb'd out) and the motif es with a perc card.

i think you are wrong about the triton. i still have friends with triton classics that make magic happen. it's not the equiptment it's the producer.
but compared to the motif es. the es reigns supreme but a close call runnin against all those exb boards (7) in my triton studio.
so that and some analog synth and your little jon just like that. oh wait skill too thats a first. oh and for the fantom x haters . i myself would not buy that workstation but the rack looks tempting with (6) srx slots.

go listen to some stuff at g.c then price hunt.

I own a motif es and it's real dope! Spécialy for accoustics and percs instruments, FX & arpégiator are powerfull, keys are greats,I don't sample into it but it's def a strong piece.
Bout RLD I would say it's a waisting time and money to afford their latest releases such as Fantom's série, they all sucks! If you go to RLD, you'd better cop a XV5080 with 128Mo, you can put SRX & JV expansion cards in it!

Peace
