I never tried their scratch mixers but imo there is nothing out there for that kind of use that would come close sound wise to the Rane or Rodec Scratch Box just at a guess...Another would be the Allen & Heath Xone 02 which I have used and sounded really clean and nice but for some reason found them really bland lol U gona' battle me on that oh mr fancy then some kid would rip it out on a **** PMC 05 and win...ok I'm gettin carried away hahah

Vestax is rubbish but the funny things is as awful as it is it's a great scratch mixer imo and was very popular..I'm talking about the 05 Pro 2
Cheap nasty components and crappy sound BUT nice x-fader and that hard kinda lo-fi sound works with the style of music played...I know I'm crazy right lol

Eclere seem to be getting really popular now too and they always made solid stuff...never used them though

Hi i actually was looking into buying a Vestax pcm 05 proII and everywhere i look im getting mixed reviews as big as its CLASSIC what more can you say AMAZING etc to competly shit. Basically i have a mpc2000xl no ef card and currently using and old yamaha receiver that gets decent reviews as far as quality and sound goes. I was looking into a dj mixer for sampling(good sound and using basic EQ like cutting lows on hi hats and what have you) and ive always wanted to add some cuts to my beats. I have never scratched and not looking to become the next Qbert here just lay down some cuts and sample. Ive found a mint vestax for 175$ Canadian. Anything better for what im looking to use it for that you guys would recommend?

Are you still using this cart 1620? How's it holding up?

I have one Stanton 680EE (I think I got mine on ebay, it was a used cartridge), and I like it for listening, ripping & sampling purpose, I know, there are better carts I suppose, but the 680 is more than good enough for me. I like the fact that 680 styli are easy to get hold of, and cost performance is great.

My advice to those who are looking for good sounding phono cartridge, don't forget the fact that phono amp is as important as phono cart. Wven with a decent phono amp and budget phono cart (like stanton 500, I guess not with Shure M44 series), you can have a pretty good result.
