Books about synthesis

I know experimenting with gear is the best way of learning, but maybe somebody's got a good book about synthesis? From the basics to some more complex stuff. Ebooks are of course more than welcome

Synth manuals sometimes explain things very well...Novation KS Rack for example, check the PDF out on the Novation website.
It explains the basics of analogue subtractive synthesizers quite well and best of all it's free

^^^ IMO... Music Tech mag has came along way since it first came out. It used to have shitty articles and sample cd's but now I think it's better than Computer Music mag.
They had an excellent Logic and Ableton Live tutorial mag last year.

Sound on sound has a really good series of articles called "synth secrets" (i think) on their website - well worth a look for learning more about how analog (and analog modeling) synths work
