Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

Be careful when you call white people the N word, they start acting all crazy from the joy!!

Cheech is cool though, it won't get to his head.

So it looks like we have a general concensus, whether it is biting or not, it is pretty much wack to do it.

People know that already, some choose to ignore their conscience.

Actually read my posts next time... I said I listen to good music... While I consider myself more underground I listen to plenty of mainstream cats... I just don't relate to a lot of what's goin on in the mainstream... But at the same time I don't listen to something just because it's "underground" and automatically not listen cause it's "mainstream"...

Read before you respond next time...

MattMatiks,

i did a search for you on soundclick before I read the above post and there is a guy with the same name (someone else of course). He says he would love to sign with a major. I hope people do not mistake him for you and ruin your underground 'credentials'.

i like the pf strings beat idea

Cosign on that.

Just in case things are dying down in this thread I'll add a little more juice to the fruit punch!
When people go out to a club or a concert they sometimes really LIKE to hear things they already know. There is a whole genra of dj records with the beat from one artist (or two or three) and the lyrics of another. I think it might have its roots with the djs (they sometimes lay down mixes like that) or with the jamaican dub plate pressure (one dub, everyone and their mother makes a song out of it).

Also look at J-Kwon (don't shoot the messenger!) 's lyrics for Tipsy he makes references to 3 or four popular songs, PIMP etc. A lot of times people like hearing that stuff (recycled stuff). Errr ok, I liked hearing those references. I thought it was 'clever'.

So there might be times when you actually want to sample a recognizable sound. Or at least if you're aiming to please the cats on the dance floor. But of course you have to please yourself first. Errr or stay true to yourself. So if you can't go there, don't. Ok, have fun tearing this one up. :D

The fact that you would admit to liking any part of that song makes me laugh....

Sad...

I liked the Grindin beat. They made that sh*t bang.

But what did these guys do? Nothing, they just made the exact same beat. I got no respect for that!

that's what happens when everybody has a damn triton...they tried to throw the synth in there to fix it up...didn't work...

The Grinidn beat was nice... Don't get it twisted... That took some thought....

But flippin the same track with a corny synth on top... JD should be ashamed of himself for releasing anything anymore.... The last few tracks he did have been someone else's creativity looped with a synth on top...

Someone else on here mentioned about how he did a track where he literally looped a Jay-Z track with Jay's vocals and everything on it.... That's the weakest thing I've heard of in years...

I guess that's what happens when you become an IRS recording artist....

that was TrackBoyz that did Tipsy

I know it was Track Boys, but it was put out through JD's label... What I'm sayin is that he shoudln't put his name on anything anymore cause it's become synonymous with cr@p...
