8 outs

i've just connected my mixer to a mpc to sample some sounds. I've plugged the cable onto "in" in 8 outs board. When i go into a sampling mode in mpc nothing happens. there is a sound from the turntable, mixer is ok. I tried to switch 'input' from analog to digital, bout it didn't help. I've got only one wire, so there's no way to sample by the classical way - I can record only one channel (R/L) right now.
Maybe 8 outs board is **** up? I bought my mpc with it a few days ago, this is the first time I'm using it. How to try if it's working? Also if i plug the wire in digital out, there's a noise in my speakers. i can't hear any soounds from mpc, but when there's no sounds coming frommpc it's quiet. Somebody know what the **** is going on?

Oh dear... I will do this before someone else will. Read the manual before you start connecting cables to a electrical device you are not familiar with. Your problem is that you are connecting a incoming signal to the output ports of the MPC. The fact that it is called "the 8 outs board" should tell you that it is used to output the sound from the MPC to an external device.

I'm sure that if you instead connect your mixer to the input jacks of the MPC, you will have much better results as far as sampling goes

I appretiate your support, but I'm afraid you have misunderstood me. Im connecting output of mixer to the input of mpc. 8 out board also has 'IN' port. Caption under this port says, that this port is for digital signal, therefore i switched in mpc's sampling window 'analog' to 'digital', but nothing happened. I also tried to plug my headphones to the 'out' port, also from 8 outs board. This was the moment, when i heard nothing but noise, when i pressed a pad with a sound. When I asked to tell me how to check condition of my 8 outs board, I just wanted to try if it's working. I was afraid it is broken, nothing else
I'm not stupid man, I know the difference between input and output and by the way - I got no manual, that's why I'm asking questions like this.

so - will somebody tell me how to try if the outs are working? and is it possible to sample with pluging the wire to 'in (digital)' port, when i want to sample from turntable (it's an analogue device, I think).

is your mixer's output digital? if not then it wont work on a digital input. the headphones should be connected to the headphones output ... not a port on the 8 output card. You cant run an analog signal from your mixer or turn table and expect a digital input to work with it...

true, I didn't think about Akai's website, my bad. Also, I didn't think, that I tried to sample an analog signal by a digital input.

cool man, but you know what though... run each of those 8 outputs to a seperate channel on the mixer and you can mix your whole song man and record the stereo out of the mixer into your computer. good luck man, and make some heat.
