Came across this today, Im sure many users of Logic Studio/ Pro and even Garageband may find this free application handy.

Looks like a nail in the coffin for the original FXpansion VST/ AU adapter.

From the developer:

VSTAU is an Audio Unit adapter that allows VST plug-ins to be used in AU hosts (i.e. This application creates wrappers for your VST plug-ins that will make them available as Audio Units in programs like Logic Pro and GarageBand).

If anyone tries this, Id be grateful for some feedback as I don't have any VST plug-ins to test with.

Apple Logic uses Audio Units (AU) for native plug-ins.

Pro Tools uses Real Time Audio Suite (RTAS) for native plug-ins

Cubase (and many others) use Virtual STudio Instruments (VSTi) for native plug-ins the code to which is open source.

Normally you would need some sort of 'Wrapper' application to use plugs which are not native to your DAW otherwise they will not work properly at all or may not even be recognised.

Wrappers are currently available for all the aforementioned DAWS and plug-in formats.

Fxpansion has been the market leader in providing these 'wrappers' for some years, but now they are up against some competition from FREE alternatives.
